A mayoral candidate has reserved $40,000 for campaign ads. Each radio ad costs $200 and reaches 3000 people. Each TV ad costs $500 and reaches 7000 people. The candidate would like to reach as many people as possible, but only 10 ads of each type can be used. Also, radio ads should be at least as great as the number of TV ads. How many ads of each type should be used?

Answer:

10 of each Ad should be used

Step-by-step explanation:

Assuming that the numbers provided are correct, then the mayoral candidate should max out the number of ads on each platform since only 10 ads of each type can be used, and doing so does not max out the campaign budget. This would allow you to max out the number of individuals you can reach. The math would be the following...

Radio:

10 * $200 = $2000 total spent

10 * 3000 = 30,000 people reached

TV:

10 * $500 = $5000 total spent

10 * 7000 = 70,000 people reached

Total:

$2000 + $5000 = $7000 total spent

30,000 * 70,000 = 70,000 people reached
