Write 3. 25 x 10^4 as an ordinary number.

Answer:

10^4 = 10,000

3.25 x 10000 = 32500

Let's say multiply 3.25 by 100 to get 325.

Then, divide 10000 by 100 to get 100.

Finally, do 325 x 100 to get 32500.

You may ask, why not multiply 10000 by 100, too?

The reason is to do the opposite, to balance out.

As, 10000 x 100 will be 1,000,000 and that multiplied by 325 will give you a large sum of 325, 000,000. This, is not realistic to 3 x 10000. If we ignore the point 25 at the end or rounding it down to 3.
