In the rock cycle if an Igneous rock is subjected to extensive heat and pressure without melting , it will turn into which type of rock?

1. Metamorphic
2. Sediment
3. Any other rock it will be random
4. Igneous

Answer: It would be metamorphic.

Explanation: I think you got mixed up with history and science but to create a metamorphic rock, it is important that the rock remains solid and doesn't melt. Too much pressure or heat will melt the rock into magma. This will create a formation of a igneous rock and not a metamorphic rock. Therefore if the rock had extensive heat or pressure without melting it would turn into a metamorphic rock and if it did melt it would become a igneous rock.
