To find this remember the formula
(discount amount)/(original price) = (percent discount)/(100)

To find the discount amount subtract $36 from $60 which is $24.


(24)/(60) = (x)/(100) next you have to cross multiply

24*100 = 2400 and 60*x = 60x

Now you have the equation 2400 = 60x

Divide both sides by 60 to isolate the variable

x = 40
