The value I remember for pi is 3.14159. This is rounded to the nearest 10-thousandth. Another way of saying the same thing is that it is "rounded to 5 decimal places".

pi--rounded off in decreasing precision:

Watch out for a trap in rounding:

Suppose I start with 5.49. To the nearest 10th, it would be 5.5. To the nearest whole digit, it is 5, not 6. If the original number were 5.51, then rounded to the nearest whole digit would be 6.
