Book: Between the World and Me

How does the poem at the start of part 2 connect with the book so far and what might it foreshadow for part 2's content? Why did Coates include it (e. the purpose/effect) and what is the success of including it?

"Our world is full of sound
Our world is more lovely than anyone- Tho we suffer, and kill each other and sometimes fall to walk the air

We are beautiful people with
african imaginations full of masks and dances and swelling chants

with african eyes, and noses, and arms, though we sprawl in grey chains in a place full of winters, when what we want is sun."
