Elisa rented a bike from Molly’s Bikes. The store charges $16 plus $2 per hour. If Elisa paid $30, for how long did she rent the bike?

Answer:

1 hour and 45 minutes

Explanation

So we already know 16+2=18. Well, 8*2=18 which means 18 is equal to 1 hour and if you add another 8 that's equal to 1 hour and 30 minutes, and 18+8=26 and to get to 30 you have to add 4 more, and since 4 is half of 8 and 8 represents 30 minutes and half of 30 is 15, basically 30 min+15 min= 45, so it's 1 hour and 45 min. I hope this helps!!
