$~~~~~~\log_ 6 10 + \log_6 x = \log_6 (40)\\\\\implies \log_6(10x) = \log_ 6 (40)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~;[\log_b(mn) = \log_b m + \log_b n]\\\\\implies 10x = 40\\\\\implies x = (40)/(10)\\\\\implies x = 4$
