PLEASE HELP

MAP IS ATTACHED

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) measures tsunami risk through a program called DART. This map shows the locations of DART tsunami monitoring devices. What do you think NOAA means when it says that DART monitors are placed in “strategic locations”? Given the data on the map, do you agree with this claim?

Answer: “Strategic locations” means that the DART monitors are placed where a tsunami is most likely to occur. The monitor locations marked on the map are along the Ring of Fire, where many underwater earthquakes occur. The monitors are mostly along coastlines, where tsunamis can do the most damage to communities on land.
