Sandy wants to buy 5 pounds of apples. She has a coupon for $1.00 off for every 3 pounds of apples. She gets to the store and discovers that apples are on sale for $0.75 a pound. Is it cheaper for her to buy 5 pounds or 6 pounds? Explain.

Answer:

It’s is cheaper to get 6

Explanation:

do .75 times 6 then you get 4.5 after take away 2 dollars for the and you get 2.5 and if they were to buy 5 it would be 3.75 minus 1 dollar and that would be 2.75 so 2.5 is cheaper

Answer:

it is cheaper for sandy to buy 6pounds of apples, this is because she has to pay $2.75 for 5pounds of apples but she only has to pay $2.50 for 6pounds of apples

Explanation:

if sandy buys 5pounds of apple:

5/3= 1.67

= 1 coupon

the money sandy should pay:

(5*$0.75)-(1*$1)= $2.75

if sandy buys 6pounds of apple:

6/3= 2 coupon

the money sandy should pay:

(6*$0.75)-(2*$1)= $2.50
