Suppose there is a 1.9f drop in temperature for every thousand feet that an airplane climbs into the sky. If the temperature on the ground is 51.8f what will be the temperature when the plane reaches an altitude of 3,000ft??

Answer: 46.1f

Explanation:

Simce there is a 1.9f drop in temperature for every thousand feet that an airplane climbs into the sky, when the airplane reaches an altitude of 3,000ft, the drop in temperature will be:

= 1.9f × 3

= 5.7f

Since the temperature on the ground is 51.8f, then the temperature will then be:

= 51.8f - 5.7f

= 46.1f
