Let the total number did newspaper readers the local news paper has be represented by x

Therefore,

4% of x = 80 people

Hence,

4/100 × x = 80

4x/100 = 80

Cross Multiply

4x = 100 × 80

4x = 8000

x = 8000/4

x = 2000 people

Therefore, the number of people the newspaper has is 2000 newspaper readers
