i would make $1500 a month, excluding tax that would be $1000. I would barely be able to pay for my rent and utilities with this money.

Barbara Ehreneich's minimum wage of $7 may have been close to affordable and reaching monthly budgets. However, she would not survive a day in my community. Particularly in California 2020, along with food, gas, health & car insurance, and shelter. A hypothetical monthly budget in my part of the country would range from one grand to two grand. This is because California is one of the most expensive states in the country and with a job of $7.50 per hour, I would need to stay at a hotel for a few days before getting a second job. Then and only then would I be able to withhold a monthly budget.
