What makes Irving's argument a satire ​

Washington Irving uses a narrator to tell the story instead of having us see the story through the eyes of one of the characters. He doesn't use much dialogue; we're being told the story after it's already happened. As with most of Irving's work, Rip Van Winkle includes a lot of imagery, humor, and satire.
