An architect designs two similar triangular patios. The first patio has angle measures of (x + 10)°, (y + 15)°, and 70°. The second patio has angle measures of (x + 20)°, 50°, and 60°. Find the values of x and y.

Answer:

x is 50

y is 55

Explanation:

Let us start working with the second patio

At any point in time, the total measure of the angles of a triangle is 180

Thus in the second patio;

x + 20 + 50 + 60 = 180

x + 130 = 180

x = 180-130

x = 50

In the first patio;

x + 10 + y + 15 + 70 = 180

substitute 50 for x

50 + 10 + y + 65 = 180

60 + 65 + y = 180

y = 180-60-65

y = 55
