A ladder is leaning against a house. The distance to the house's edge from the bottom step is 3 ft. and the distance from the edge to the top step is 4 ft. What is the slant of the ladder?

a = 4 ft

b represents the distance to the house's edge from the bottom step

∴ We need to find c

→ By using the Pythagoras Theorem

∵ c =
\sqrt{a^(2)+b^(2)}

∴ c =
\sqrt{(4)^(2)+(3)^(2)}=√(16+9)=√(25)
