Answer:

Hi,

Explanation:

I suppose you want an integer solution.

Let's say

a the number of gallons of 35% alcohol

b the number of gallons of 50% alcohol

(35)/(100)*a+(50)/(100)*b=(40)/(100)*6\\\\35*a+50*b=240\\\\7a+10b=48\\\\b=(48-7a)/(10)\\\\a=4+10*n\\\\b=(48-7*(4+10*n))/(10)=2-7*n\\\\As\ b\ must\ be\ a\ positive\ number \ n=0\\\\so\ b=2\ and\ a= 4
