Question -:

Change the following into indirect speech.

1) She said,"Would you like me to help you?"( direct speech)

Step-by-step explanation -:

She asked me if I need her help or not. (indirect speech)

  1. In this sentence if is used as a conjunction.
  2. In place of said we can use asked and enquired because in reporting question indirect speech is introduced by some words as asked, enquired,etc.
  3. In indirect speech you will change in I.

Additional Information -:

\large \underline{\sf{ Direct \: speech }}

When the exact words of the speaker are quoted within the inverted comma, it is called direct speech.

Example -: They said, "We were walking along the beach."

\large \underline{\sf{ Indirect \: speech }}

When the words of the speaker are translated in own way, it is called Indirect speech.

Example -: They said that they had been walking along the beach.

That is used as a conjunction.
