Given:

Granny Apples charge $12 for 6 pounds of apples.

Wilson' Apples charges $15 for 5 pounds of apples.

To find:

Which apple company provides a better deal.

Solution:

We need to compare unit price of both companies.

\text{Unit price}=\frac{\text{Total price}}{\text{Number of units}}

Unit price of Granny Apples,

\text{Unit price}=(\$12)/(6)

\text{Unit price}=\$2

Unit price of Wilson Apples,

\text{Unit price}=(\$15)/(5)

\text{Unit price}=\$3

Since, per unit price of Granny Apples is less than Wilson Apples, therefore Granny Apples provides a better deal.
