Cross multiplication;

2/3 5/6

Do u just multiply 6 and 2, & 3 and 5????

2 goes into 6 3 times so it would be the same as 1 going into 3 3 times.


(1)/(3) (5)/(3)

Since 3 doesn't go into 5 at all (and by that I mean a whole number) you don't change it.

Multiplying 1/3 and 5/3, you would get 5/9.

Multiplying 2/3 and 5/6, you would get 10/18, which simplifies to 5/9.

That is kind of how cross multiplying works.
