if 15 of them have a cat 10 is left but 16 have a dog so that means 6 people have the same and 3 people are left without a person hopes this helps

  • we first find how many have both, let x represent this group
  • so all together there should be 25 students so we say

  • 25students=(16-x)students+(15-x)students+(x)students+3students\\x=9students
  • The probability is then 9/25
