(a) Find the values of a, b , c, d, and e.
(b) Calculate d-b. What does it represent?
(b) Calculate e-a. What does it represent?

Answer:

Below in bold.

Explanation:

(a) a = 158.

The median = the middle value = c = 195.

The lower quartile = the middle value of the first 5 heights = 185 = b.

The upper quartile = the middle value of the last 5 heights = 200 = d.

(b) d - b = 200 - 185 = 15 = the interquartile range (IQR).

(c) e - a is the range = 213 - 158 = 55.
