Answer:

  • If they are similar triangles then the ratio AE:BE equals the ratio DE:BC
  • The ratio AE:BE can be written as the fraction
    AE:BE=(AE)/(BE)= (9cm)/(BE)
  • The ratio DE:BC can be written as the fraction
    DE:BE=(DE)/(BE)=(6cm)/(16cm) =(3)/(8)

  • AE:BE=DE:BC\\(9cm)/(BE)=(3)/(8) \\BE*3=8*9cm\\BE*3=72cm\\BE=24cm
