y = (1)/(2) x + 1 \\

Multiply sides by 2

2 * y = 2 * ( (1)/(2) x + 1) \\

2y =( 2 * (1)/(2) x) + (2 * 1) \\

2y = x + 2

x + 2 = 2y

Subtract sides 2

x + 2 - 2 = 2y - 2

x = 2y - 2

Answer:

The answer is x = 2y - 2

Explanation:

Question: y = 1/2x + 1

Given:

equation: y = 1/2x + 1

Unknown:

Equation in x = ?

1. Move the x variable to the side that the y is on.

y = 1/2x + 1

-1/2x -1/2x

2. Move the y to the side of the y-intercept

y - 1/2x = 1

-y - y

3. Divide both sides by -1/2 or multiply by -2

-1/2x = -y + 1

*-2 -2(-y + 1)

The answer is x = 2y - 2

Hope it helped,
