    y=mx+b is in slope-intercept form, where m is the slope and b is any number constant.
  • For this equation,
    p=50x-2000 , y is p, the slope m is 50 and b is -2000
  • The slope tells how much the profit is changing with each ticket
  • Slope simply means "the amount of change"
  • So if we have 2 tickets sold, the profit is
    p=50*100-2000=3000
  • What about 101?
    p=50*101-2000=3050
  • So the profit is changing by 50 with every ticket
  • That means each ticket costs 50 whatever currency
  • It will save you trouble to just remember that in a profit equation, the slope is always the cost per item.
