“Well I don’t want it.” Lennie said with a sassy tone. “Well your lucky ‘cause neither do I.” Mattie said with a huff. The conflict this time? Their stepmothers old diary. They had hated her with every piece of their hearts, but with her gone, she had a few belongings to be divided amongst her step children. The twins Lennie and Mattie had been “gifted” with her diary. “Well I don’t need to hear why she hated me or any other of our siblings or maybe things between her and mom.” Lennie said, heated and kicking things around with their foot. “I honestly don’t know why she needs us to suffer further.” Mattie stepped forward and took the ratty-looking book from the chipped dresser top. “What do you think your doing now?!” Without answering Lennie’s reply, Mattie lit the dusty fireplace and with a big sigh, threw the book into the fire and watched as the cover crumbled and the pages burnt. He hadn’t ever felt so calmed. Now with her gone, he could finally be who he wanted without her judgement. Lennie sat next to him and watched the last they had of her fall apart with a smile on their face.
