HELP PLEASE ASAP IM ON A TIMERRRR

Question 9)
Reread the "Letter to a Citizen of Kentucky, an excerpt":

"I am naturally anti-slavery. If slavery is not wrong nothing is wrong. I cannot remember when I did not so think and feel; and yet I have never understood that the Presidency conferred upon me an unrestricted right to act officially in this judgment and feeling. It was in the oath I took that I would to the best of my ability preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. I could not take the office without taking the oath. Nor was it in my view that I might take the oath to get power, and break the oath in using the power."

In a paragraph of 3-5 complete sentences, summarize President Lincoln's meaning in the paragraph above.

Answer:

the meaning of this paragraph was Lincoln saying he will fight for whats right without taking advantage of his power and loosing his oath he made. The path he made was to uphold the constitution. Make sure the United States is safe but whats constitutional about slavery? what he's trying to say in this speech is that as much as people would like to say slavery is American its not its anything but American because the constitution has no where in there that slavery is ok. We have amendments and rights but we are not giving them to everyone and going by what our founding fathers taught us "all men are created equal". whats equal about slavery.
