Answer:

Explanation:

Given

Area of the rectangle =Length × width

Given

The desired length of the lot is 6 m longer than its width, then L = 6+W

A = LW

40 = (6+W)W

40= 6W+W²

W²+6W -40 = 0

W²+10W-4W-40 = 0

W(w+10)-4(w+10) = 0

W+10 = 0 and w-4 = 4

W = -10 and w = 4

Width can't be negative

W = 4m

Since L = 6+w

L = 6+4

L = 10m

Hence the possible dimension s 4m by 10m
