Solute is always smaller than solvent.
For example a solute of NaCl (table salt) is poured into a cup of water. You would want the table salt which is the solute to be smaller than the cup of water which is the solvent.
So C is your answer

C i guess, because all the others “work” in the solution. They do something, they don’t receive/get smthg
