What is the equation of the line perpendicular to y=-1/5x -2 and contains the point (2, -10)?

Answer:

y = 5x -20

Explanation:

for the line to be perpendicular it must have the inverse slope

therefore m = 5

no substitute the point (2, -10) in for (x, y) respectively to find the y intercept

-10 = 5(2) + b

-10 = 10 + b

b = -20

the equation will be y = 5x -20
