x = 2

Explanation:

Given

- 2 (1 - 4x) = 3x + 8 ( distribute parenthesis on left side )

- 2 + 8x = 3x + 8 ( subtract 3x from both sides )

- 2 + 5x = 8 ( add 2 to both sides )

5x = 10 ( divide both sides by 5 )

x = 2
