Answer/Explanation:

In the Battle of Lexington and Concord in 1775, British soldiers were sent to destroy weapons that were stored by colonial militias. Colonial minutemen found out about the British plan and confronted them. The first shots of the American Revolution were fired here and were known as "The shots heard around the world." Neither sides had declared war yet so it was known as a "battle" rather than a war.
