3x - y = -1

Explanation:

y - y₁ = m(x - x₁)

substitute (1,4) in for (x₁, y₁) respectively and the slope of 3 in for m

y -4 = 3(x - 1)

distribute 3 to (x - 1)

y - 4 = 3x -3

isolate 3x by itself by adding 3 to both sides

y - 1 = 3x

subtract y from each side

-1 = 3x - y

and just flip around the equation to make it look nicer

3x - y = -1
