Eukaryotes include plant and animal cells. Eukaryotes have a membrane-bound nucleus that contains the DNA of the cell, whereas prokaryotes have free floating DNA.

Prokaryotes lack mitochondria, a nucleolus, and a nucleus. Eukaryotes contain all of these along with other unique organelles, such as the chloroplast in plant cells, and the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus in animal cells.
