Given:

Total number of people who signed up = 76

Each boat can transfer = 9 peoples

To find:

The number of boats required.

Solution:

We know that,

\text{Required number of boats}=\frac{\text{Total number of peoples}}{\text{Number of peoples transferred by each boat}}

On substituting the values, we get

\text{Required number of boats}=(76)/(9)

\text{Required number of boats}=8.44...

Number of required boats must be a whole number. So, approximate the data to the next whole number.

\text{Required number of boats}=9

Therefore, the required number of boats is 9.
