In my opinion the idea of “walk around in someone else’s skin basically means to put yourself in another persons position, and to try to understand how they would feel or act towards something. You can apply this to your own life in a meaningful way by thinking about how another person would feel instead of jumping to conclusions about a certain idea or event. For example you should never assume something about someone else, instead think about their perspective on things.
