You and a group of friends take turns planting 2 trees each at a campsite. After the first person plants 2 trees, there are 12 trees at the campsite. A. The equation for the nth term will be;

An = 10 + 2n

After the 9th planter ( 8 more than the initial one); number of trees will be 28

Explanation:

After the first person plant two trees, there were 12 trees at the plant sites

What this mean is that initially, they were 12-2 = 10 trees at the plant site

The nth term of the sequence which represents the number of trees given the number of persons that have planted will be;

An = 10 + 2n

Now, after 8 more people planted, since we had one that already planted, the total number of planters is now 9 planters

So using the equation, n will be 9

So ; A9 = 10 + 2(9)

A9 = 10 + 18

A9 = 28
