Explanation:

diameter of hemisphere = 10cm

radius of hemisphere = 10/2 cm = 5cm

height of hemisphere = radius of hemisphere = 5cm

height of cylinder = 12cm - 5cm = 7cm

surface area = 2pi(5)7 + pi(5)^2 + 2pi(5)^2 = 455.53cm^2 (5sf)
