16 = 3x² - 4x - 7

0 = 3x² - 4x - 23

3x²- 4x - 23 = 0

By quadratic formula,

x =
\frac{-b\pm \sqrt{b^(2)-4ac}}{2a}

x =
\frac{4\pm \sqrt{(-4)^(2)-4(3)(-23)}}{2(3)}

x =
(4\pm √(292))/(6)

(4\pm 17.09)/(6)
