Captain Henry was said to have been one of the best divers in Bayfield, Wisconsin, and now he is said to be the best ship captain. However, this evening on Lake Superior was different from any other evening that Captain Henry had ever seen. It was a wavy and stormy night on the lake. Captain Henry was directing all of his strength to the steering wheel to control the ship. The waves were mammoth, and the boat continued to fill with the angry water. Captain Henry yelled at his fellow sailors to scoop out the water that was weighing down the ship, but the sailors could not work any faster. "We're sinking! We're sinking!" shouted the sailors.

How does the picture contribute to the meaning or tone in this excerpt from the text, The Rescue?

1.) The illustration shows the captain's worry and the ship's distress.

2.) The illustration shows the lighthouse guiding the ship.

3.) The illustration shows the sailor waving his arms.

4.) The illustration shows that there is water on the deck of the ship.

(Giving extra points on this one!!)
