Answer: The artwork consists of many lines differing in range of size, length and thickness. Starry Night isn’t hyper realistic and neither is a good bit of Goph’s work. This painting was made with oil paints and has a thick coating of paint with every stroke.

Van Gogh had a condition called Synesthesia. Synesthesia is a perceptual phenomenon in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway. Which allowed him to physically see light in things that others may not see.
