The impact theory states that the Moon was created about 4.5 billion years ago. Many scientists believe that a large body (about the size of Mars) entered into Earth’s path and hit our planet. The resulting debris from both bodies orbited Earth and eventually collected to form a single solid satellite—the Moon.
