A resource can be classified as a stock resource, mainly because of its limited replacement capacity once its initial reserve has been used up.

Thus, for example, oil is the stock resource par excellence, since once its reserves are depleted, it will be very complex to generate said resource again, with which its consumption will be limited to the initial stock that is available at the time of starting its exploitation.
