Explain how water is controlled to generate electrical energy in hydro-electric dams. and show a diagram is help explain the answer.

Near the bottom of the dam wall there is the water intake. Gravity causes it to fall through the penstock inside the dam. At the end of the penstock there is a turbine propellor, which is turned by the moving water. The shaft from the turbine goes up into the generator, which produces the power.Jun 6, 2018

Here is how I would I explain it. Water is channeled through tunnels in the dam. The energy of water flowing through the dam’s tunnels cause turbines to turn. The turbines make generators move. Generators are machines that produce electricity. Engineers control the amount of water let through the dam. The process used to control this flow of water is called the intake system.
