A circle with a 12 inch diameter is folded in half and then folded in half again. What is the approximate area of the resulting shape? and what is the exact area of the shape?

Answer:

If the diameter is 12 inches, the radius is 6 inches, because the radius is half the diameter. When you fold the circle in half, the resulting figure has half the area.
