Answer:

Populations growth, Consumption, and the Environment are honestly like a love triangle. The population is affecting the consumption rates in the world because the more people the more things needed for people to consume and the more things that need to be made for consumption the more people mass produce things like crops that use pesticides so they can make more and larger products the use of chemicals in pesticides harm the environment. From there it gets into a lot more confusing explanations but the gist of things is (bad environment = bad consumption and bad consumption = lower population).
