The story of Noah and the Ark which carried his family and two of every species in order to protect them from a flood sent by God is thought by some historians to have been influenced by the story of Utnapishtim.

Utnapishtim was chosen by the god Enki to build a giant ship that would protect some people and animals much like Noah was and so it is thought that his story influenced the Jews when they told their story of Noah.

Evidence for this is that the Jews were conquered and exiled to Mesopotamia by the Assyrians and the Babylonians which is the region that Utnapishtim's story originated.
