Lets get the equation for the graphed function

Using two points:

  • (0, -6) and (3, 0)

Y-intercept is known, it is -6 as per the first point

Slope is:

  • m = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1)
  • m = (0+6)/(3-0) = 6/3= 2

So the function f is:

  • f(x) = 2x - 6

g(x) is going to be

  • g(x) = -1/2f(x + 2) = -1/2 (2(x+2) - 6) = -1/2(2x + 4 - 6) = -1/2(2x - 2) = - x + 1

So

  • g(x) = -x + 1
