Mr. Smith'a cell phone service cost $60 per month plus $0.10 for each minute (m) of long-distance calls. His bills for September was $85. How many long distances minutes did he use?

You start with $85-$60 which is just subtracting the monthly bill, that equals $25. Then you would divide $25 by the amount for each minute ($0.10), that equals 250. Therefore he made 250 long distance calls.
