Nicholas wanted to save money to buy his girlfriend a ring. He can save $15 a week and needs at least $200 for the ring he wants to buy. If he starts with

$50 already, will he have enough for the ring within 10 weeks?

He starts with 50, and earns 15 per week to earn more than 200.

Therefore,

50 + 15 per week for 10 weeks must be greater than or equal to 200

or

50 + 15x ≥ 200

2 - "Plug and chug" to solve

50 + 15x ≥ 200

50 + 15(10) ≥ 200

50 + 150 ≥ 200

200 ≥ 200

3 - Prove

Is 200 greater than equal to 200? Yes its equal thus this statement is valid which means he will have enough in 10 weeks
